11 12 8AZ - M10 Cylinder head bolts (N62/N62TU)








Replace cylinder head bolts. Do not wash off coating
Install new cylinder head bolts with washers and initially tighten without play
Jointing torque 30 Nm
Torque angle 90°
Torque angle 90°

11 12 719 - Milling cylinder head sealing face (N62/N62TU)





(cylinder head dismantled)
Check evenness of cylinder head sealing face with a standard straight-edge (1).

Note:
Maximum plane deviation: longitudinal 0.10 mm.





Note:
Maximum plane deviation: transversal 0.05 mm.

Note:
A cylinder head seal 0.3 mm thicker than usual can be obtained for machined (milled) cylinder heads.

11 31 1AZ - Left inlet camshaft bearing cap nuts (N62 to 09/03)





First pass: Lower bearing bracket (1) from above and carefully bring into contact with cylinder head
Second pass: Insert nuts and tighten by hand without play
Third pass: Tighten down nuts from inside to outside
M6 10 Nm
M7 14 Nm
M7-8.8 15 Nm
M8 20 Nm

Important!
Do not mix up the camshaft bearing covers of cylinders 1 to 4 and 5 to 8.





Fourth pass: Fit bearing cap R E1 in such a way that marking is legible from inlet side
Final pass: Tighten bearing cap R E1 nuts
M6 10 Nm
M7 14 Nm
M7-8.8 15 Nm
M8 20 Nm

First pass: Lower bearing bracket (1) from above and carefully bring into contact with cylinder head
Second pass: Insert nuts and tighten by hand without play
Third pass: Tighten down nuts from inside to outside
M6 10 Nm
M7 14 Nm
M7-8.8 15 Nm
M8 20 Nm

Important!
Do not mix up the camshaft bearing covers of cylinders 1 to 4 and 5 to 8.





Fourth pass: Fit bearing cap L E1 in such a way that marking is legible from inlet side
Final pass: Tighten bearing cap L E1 nuts
M6 10 Nm
M7 14 Nm
M7-8.8 15 Nm
M8 20 Nm

Important!
Camshaft bearing caps of cylinders 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 must not be mixed up.

First pass: Fit bearing caps R A2 to R A5





Note:
Retaining clips (1) for oil line are fitted on bearing caps 3 and 5.

Second pass: Insert nuts and tighten by hand without play
Third pass: Tighten down nuts on bearing caps R A2 to R A5 in 1/2 turn increments evenly from inside to outside
M6 10 Nm
M7 14 Nm
M7-8.8 15 Nm
M8 20 Nm

Camshaft bearing caps of cylinders 1 to 4 and 5 to 8 must not be mixed up.

Fourth pass: Fit bearing cap R A1 in such a way that marking is legible from inlet side
Final pass: Tighten bearing cap R A1 nuts
M6 10 Nm
M7 14 Nm
M7-8.8 15 Nm
M8 20 Nm

Note:
Retaining clips (1) for oil line are fitted on bearing caps 3 and 5.

Second pass: Insert nuts and tighten by hand without play
Third pass: Tighten down nuts on bearing caps L A2 to L A5 in 1/2 turn increments evenly from inside to outside
M6 10 Nm
M7 14 Nm
M7-8.8 15 Nm
M8 20 Nm





Fourth pass: Fit bearing cap L A1 in such a way that marking is legible from inlet side
Final pass: Install nuts and tighten down
M6 10 Nm
