SUBJECT
N62TU - Engine Pinging and Idle Fluctuation
MODEL
E65, E66 with N62TU from 03/05 to 03/07
E60, E63, E64 with N62TU to 03/07
SITUATION
The customer may complain about four different drivability-related situations:
1. Engine pinging ("dieseling") on slight acceleration under load at low vehicle speed (35-40 mph)
2. Excessive idle speed fluctuations (1100-1300 rpm) on a cold start for the first 30 seconds of engine operation, when the transmission is in the P or N position
3. Creep-speed bucking when pulling away during the warm-up phase
4. Slight jolt felt when slowly braking.
CAUSE
DME software calibration
CORRECTION
Program the vehicle using the most current version of ISTA/P.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
For information on programming and coding with ISTA/P, refer to CenterNet / Aftersales Portal / Service / Workshop Technology / Vehicle Programming
This situation only applies to vehicles with a current integration level of E065-07-03-500 or earlier for E65 and E66 vehicles, and E060-07-03-500 or earlier for E60, E63, and E64 vehicles.
