Clutch Position Sensor: Service and Repair




21 54 507 - Replacing clutch position sensor (GS7S47BG SMG)





Important!
After completing work:
- Perform adaptation using DIS Tester, refer to Service Functions in DIS Tester (Replacement and Repair)
- Read out fault memory and clear entered faults.

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the manual transmission.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove exhaust system Service and Repair.
- Remove centre underbody protection.
- Remove reinforcement plate Service and Repair.
Important notes on installation are described in this work step.





Remove heat shields (1) and (2).





Remove heat shields (1) and (2).





Remove propeller shaft Removing and Installing Complete Propeller Shaft (Constant-Velocity Joint).





Important!
Support transmission with hydraulic jack.

Release screws (1) and nuts (2) and remove cross-member.

Tightening torque 22 32 3AZ/4AZ 22 32 Transmission Mounts.
Lower transmission.





Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 21 52 9AZ [1][2]Clutch Hydraulic System.
Release cable tie (2). Remove plug and unclip wiring harness from holder.
Remove clutch position sensor.

Important!
Only cable ties which are resistant to high temperatures (approx. 140 °C) may be used to secure the cable.





Installation Note:
O-ring (1) must be mounted on the sensor and pushed on up to the flange.
When the sensors are replaced, the cable must be secured without tensile stress.
Even when the cable tie next to the marking is being positioned.
