SUBJECT
DWA Causes Excessive Closed Circuit Current Draw

MODEL
E63, E64 (6 Series)

SITUATION
Vehicle occasionally fails to start due to a discharged battery. The complaint is sporadic.

CAUSE
After entering sleep mode correctly, the vehicle bus K CAN is intermittently woken again by the anti-theft alarm system (DWA).

PROCEDURE
In the event of a complaint, perform diagnostics with DIS/GT -1.

Use the "Energy Diagnosis" test plan to determine the type of off-load current problem. Continue troubleshooting if the DWA CAN SINE is determined to be the most likely cause.
