This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI B62 01 08 dated May 2008.
[NEW] designates changes to this revision
SUBJECT
Cruise Control Display in Instrument Cluster Increments Incorrectly
MODEL
E82, E88 (1 Series) produced up to August 31, 2008
SITUATION
When the "set speed" is increased or decreased using the cruise control lever, the expectation is that the cruise control display in the instrument cluster will increment 1 mph at a time. However, in some instances, either there is no change in the "set speed" indication, or the "set speed" increments by 2 mph.
CAUSE
Instrument cluster software error (rounding error in the recalculation function)
[NEW] CORRECTION
In the case of a customer complaint, program the vehicle with the most recent Progman version (target data status E89X-08-09-515 or later). Refer to SI B09 05 01 (Coding, Individualization and Programming), Procedure B.
Note that Progman will automatically reprogram all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
[NEW] WARRANTY INFORMATION
Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
In cases where Progman requires the replacement of control modules or additional programming because certain control modules failed to program correctly, print out the Measures Plan and Final Report as described in the Progman programming procedure (B09 05 01). Attach these reports to the RO in the vehicle file. This additional work should be claimed under the defect code listed in this bulletin, using the labor operation and labor allowance from the KSD.
