Headliner Loose Near A-pillar

MODEL
E93 (3 Series Convertible)

SITUATION
The front attachment point for the headliner on the front roof shell may have pulled through the headliner material, causing it to sag in this area.

CAUSE
The hole in the headliner may have been made in the wrong location, causing excessive tension in this attachment area.

CORRECTION
Install a washer under the fastener for the headliner to reinforce it. Replacement of the headliner is not necessary.

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the fastener from the forward roof shell.

2. Align the headliner into the correct position.





3. Add a 5mm washer (1) to the original fastener (2) and reinstall it through the hole in the headliner.

A Wurth 5mm washer, Article # 9650570, is recommended, but any washer with the following specifications will be effective:

Internal Diameter: At least 5.0mm
External Diameter: Up to 13.0mm
Thickness: Approximately 1.0mm.
