EMC Measures, E92
Measures to increase electromagnetic compatibility
For certain known fault patterns, design measures have already been implemented in production.
Check these design measures in the event of EMC faults:
1. Tail lights
Fault pattern with effect:
changed electronics in the outer tail lights mean that disturbances in VHF and DAB reception can occur. This concerns tail lights with date of manufacture between 30.05.2007 and 17.12.2007. The date is indicated on the top of the tail light (see illustration below).
For analysis, disconnect both tail lights and check if the problem persists. After disconnecting, reception must get significantly better. If there is no improvement, replace the tail lights.

Diagnosis instructions
The aerial diagnosis runs as follows:
The self-diagnosis of the aerial diversity is triggered in the test module of the BMW diagnosis system. The self-diagnosis includes a check of the aerial inputs on the basis of a current measurement (direct current). If a fault is found, the aerial diagnosis aborts after the self-diagnosis.
If the self-diagnosis has a positive result, the FM aerials are specifically activated and evaluated with regard to field strength (check of the aerials).
