SUBJECT
The Front and Rear Doors Do Not Unlock at the Same Time
MODEL
E60, E61 (5 Series) produced from 3/2007
SITUATION
Intermittently, when the vehicle is unlocked using either the remote key or the central locking button, the rear doors do not unlock at the same time as the front doors. This situation is unaffected by whether or not selective locking is active.
For the rear doors to unlock, the unlock procedure must be performed an additional time.
The customer may also note that the "High Rate of Battery Discharge" Check Control message is displayed.
CAUSE
This condition occurs either when the vehicle is in transport mode, or when an excessive closed-circuit current draw is detected.
When an excessive draw is detected, the 30 gf relay is switched, which disconnects the basic body module (KBM) from the power supply.
CORRECTION
Turn off transport mode or resolve the excessive battery draw problem.
PROCEDURE
1. If transport mode is active, it should be turned off via the BMW diagnosis equipment.
2. If transport mode is not active, troubleshoot and rectify any battery draws that are present.
a. Continue troubleshooting the battery draw or discharge issue by completing the "Energy Diagnosis" test plan. Refer to SI B6113 05 and SI B61 08 00 for further information.
