SUBJECT
Comfort Access is Inoperative

MODEL
E65, E66 (7 Series) equipped with Comfort Access (option 322)

SITUATION
Comfort Access is permanently inoperative on all four doors.

No fault codes are stored in any of the door modules or in the PGS (Comfort Access Module).

The doors will still lock and unlock properly using the key fob.

CAUSE
Defective door handle electronics (TAGE) on one of the four doors.

CORRECTION
Replace the defective TAGE.

PROCEDURE

1. The Comfort Access feature is one of the functions switched off by the Power Module in the event of a closed-circuit current draw, charging system problems, or an insufficiently charged battery. It is therefore necessary to first check for faults in the Power Module.

^ If any fault codes are present in the Power Module, follow the recommendations provided in SI B61 08 00.

^ If no such fault codes are present, continue with the following procedure:

2. Starting at the left front door, unfasten the 7mm screw securing the door harness to the lower A-pillar.

3. Pull the harness connector out of the A-pillar and disconnect it.

4. Test the operation of the Comfort Access system on the other 3 doors.

5. If Comfort Access is working on these doors, replace the left front TAGE.

6. If Comfort Access is still inoperative, reconnect the left front door connector and repeat steps 2-5 for each of the remaining 3 doors, one at a time, until the faulty TAGE is identified.

^ NOTE:
The connectors for the rear doors are the same as the front, but are located in the B-pillars.
