54 34 954 Removing And Installing/Replacing Complete Hydraulic Unit

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Observe notes on EH convertible top.
- Remove convertible top







Release screw (1).
Remove hardtop locators on left and right.







Carefully pull back convertible top cover (2) and expose emergency release mechanism.
Release screws (1) on emergency release mechanism.







Cut cable ties (1) from wiring harness holder only.

Installation:
Replace cable straps.

Feed hydraulic lines (2) out of convertible top strip.







Release screws (1) on cable holders.
Release snap ring from pin (2) and drive out pin.
Release screw (3).

Installation:
Insert screw (3) with Loctite.
14AZ Convertible top frame to main bearing
M6 11 Nm

Remove adhesive tape (4) from wiring harness.

Unclip cover.







Mark position (1) of screw heads.







Release screws and remove main bearing with hydraulic cylinder.

Replacement only:
Screw (1) must be replaced and is supplied with range of space parts.

Installation:
Fit thin spacer between bracket and frame.
Return screws to original position.
Tighten down screws.
12AZ Main bearing to convertible top frame (B-pillar)
M8 17 Nm







Feed out main bearing (1) with hydraulic cylinder (without hydraulic unit) between tensioning straps (2) and convertible top cover.

Release screws (1).
Remove microswitches (2).







NOTE: Further information in HG61







Replacement only:
Release screws (1) and remove shims (2).
Install spacers (2) on new main bearing.

Installation:
- Check convertible top adjustment.
- Carry out function test
