SUBJECT
Active Head Restraint Cannot Be Locked Back into Position

MODEL
E90, E91 (3 Series) produced from August 18, 2008 to September 29, 2008

SITUATION
Following an active head restraint deployment and during the gas cartridge replacement, the active head restraint cannot be locked back into position.

CAUSE
Adverse tolerances in the active head restraint

The safety function of the active head restraint is unaffected.

CORRECTION
Replace the complete head restraint according to REP 52 14 393 "Remove and refit/replace left and right-hand front seat crash-active head restraint (from 09/08)".
