Removing and Installing/Replacing Comfort Operating Unit




51 43 292 - Removing and installing/replacing comfort operating unit





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove luggage compartment floor trim panel (with storage pack, rear only)
- Remove both panels for roof pillar (D-pillar) Removing and Installing/Replacing Trim Panel For Rear Roof Pillar (D-Pillar From 03/06), Left or Right (Automatic Rear Lid)
- Remove trim from rear apron 51 46 050 Removing and Installing/Replacing Top Trim on Tail Panel
- Remove storage tray in luggage compartment on left Removing and Installing/Replacing Storage Tray in Luggage Compartment on Left





Release screws (1) and remove holder (2).
Unscrew nuts (3).





Release clip (1) and cable tie (2) on left and right.
Right side only:
Disconnect plug connection (3).

Installation:
Align guide rail (4) to holder and secure with clip (1) and cable tie (2).





Open holders (1) and feed out guide tubes (2).





Disconnect plug connection (1).
Unfasten screws (2).
Tightening torque 51 43 5AZ [1][2]Specifications.





Raise cover (1) slightly and feed out comfort operating unit (2) completely.





Replacement up to build date 06/06:

Note:
A capacitor is integrated in the drive on the new part.
Adapter lead (1) with capacitor must not be fitted.

If necessary, remove adapter lead (1) and connect plug (2) of vehicle wiring harness directly to plug (3) of drive.
