Removing and Installing/Replacing Drive Unit for Comfort Operation




51 43 291 - Removing and installing/replacing drive unit for comfort operation





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove luggage compartment floor trim panel (with storage pack, rear only)
- Remove panels for roof pillar (D-pillar) Removing and Installing/Replacing Trim Panel For Rear Roof Pillar (D-Pillar From 03/06), Left or Right (Automatic Rear Lid) on left
- Remove trim from rear apron 51 46 050 Removing and Installing/Replacing Top Trim on Tail Panel





Disconnect plug connection (1).
Unfasten cable tie (2).
Release screws (3 and 4).
3 - Drive unit with gearing on cross-member
Tightening torque 51 43 5AZ [1][2]Specifications.
4 - Drive unit on gearing
Tightening torque 51 43 6AZ [1][2]Specifications.





Unscrew nuts (1).
Raise cover (2), press drive unit (3) with gearing (4) inwards slightly and detach drive unit (3) from gearing (4).





Installation:
Toothing (1 and 4) on drive unit (2) and gearing (3) must not be damaged.





Replacement up to build date 06/06:

Note:
A capacitor is integrated in the drive on the new part.
Adapter lead (1) with capacitor must not be fitted.

If necessary, remove adapter lead (1) and connect plug (2) of vehicle wiring harness directly to plug (3) of drive.
