Replacing Wiring Harness Section for Engine

12 51 001 - Replacing wiring harness section for engine (N54)





Important!
Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD protection) 61 35 ... Notes on ESD Protection (Electro Static Discharge).





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Switch off ignition
- Disconnect battery negative lead
- Remove charge air duct Service and Repair
- Remove intake air manifold Removing and Installing/Replacing Rear Left Charge-Air Duct (N54)





Unlock cover (1) with slide (3). Release screws (2).
Remove cover (1).





Unlock all plugs (1) of DME control unit and disconnect.





Short plug:
Unlock slide (2) in bore holes (1) and pull out of housing.
Unlock tab (3), pull contact carrier (4) in direction of arrow out of housing.





Long plug:
Press locking tab (1) in direction of arrow and pull contact carrier (2) out of housing.
Unlock and disconnect all plug connections of engine wiring harness section in electronics box.










Note:
Check stored fault messages.
Now clear the fault memory.
