Engine Does Not Start

F01, F02 (7 Series) produced up to November 12, 2008

SITUATION

The engine does not start and the ignition cannot be switched on. The vehicle can, however, be opened using the remote control. A Check Control message is displayed, saying that the vehicle can only be started via the emergency start coil (transponder coil) on the right side of the steering column.

CAUSE

The remote control receiver in the antenna diversity module

[NEW] INFORMATION

The problem has been integrated into ISTA diagnostics. Select the "01 DRIVE/ACCEPT FAULT PATTERN/CALCULATE TEST PLAN". Select and run test plan AW6520_WAS1 (Check control message: hold remote control at steering column) from the displayed list.

Refer to ISTA diagnosis for the required repair procedure.

Refer to the KSD2 to code the repair performed as prescribed by ISTA diagnosis results and the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual for specific warranty coverage.
