SUBJECT
Vision System Is Intermittently Inoperative

MODEL
F01, F02* (7 Series)

[NEW] *from SOP to 02/28/2010 with option 6UK (Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection)

SITUATION

Intermittently the Night Vision system is inoperative when the ignition is on.

Fault code memory entry "0x800495 - anti-theft protection: incorrect component allocation" is stored in the Night Vision control module.

After switching the ignition off and back on again, the Night Vision system works properly.

CAUSE

Software issue in the Night Vision control module

[NEW] CORRECTION
Do not replace parts!

^ Perform a vehicle test and check whether fault code 800495 is stored in the Night Vision system.

^ If fault code 800495 is stored in the in the Night Vision system, delete the fault code entry and program the vehicle using ISTAIP 2.37.0 or later.

^ If no fault code is stored in the Night Vision system, follow diagnostics and the relevant test plan (s), using the latest ISTA version.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
