SUBJECT
After Programming, the CBS Due Date is Reset to 01/2000
MODEL
F01, F02 (7 Series) produced up to February 27, 2009
SITUATION
After programming the vehicle, the oil service due date in CBS (Condition Based Service) is reset to 01/2000.
CAUSE
When programming the DME (Digital Engine Electronics) control module, any stored CBS data in the DME is deleted. After the DME programming has finished, the DME recovers lost CBS data from the Instrument Cluster. In some cases, the data supplied by the Instrument Cluster is misinterpreted and results in a default value of 01/2000 being stored for the oil service due date.
CORRECTION
Using ISTA, select "Activities"/"Service Function"/"CBS correction, vehicle data", then run the test plan to correct the oil service due date. For vehicles before their first oil service, the oil service due date is 24 months from the production date of the vehicle. Otherwise, it is 24 months from the date of the last oil service.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
