SUBJECT
Roof Rack Cannot Be Installed

MODEL
F01, F02 (7 Series) produced up to 7/2009

SITUATION
In some cases, the accessory roof rack base will not lock into the retaining channel of the roof. When looking below the cover on the roof trim panel, sealing compound is present in the retention channel.

CAUSE
Excessive sealing compound installed on the mounting point for the roof rack does not allow complete seating of the roof rack base.

CORRECTION
Remove excessive sealant.

PROCEDURE
Follow the procedure outlined in the attachment SIB512809 Procedure.pdf.
