Hissing Noise, A/C System

Repair instruction for hissing noise in the air conditioning mode

Complaint
When the air conditioning system is switched on, hissing noises can occur in the area of the air conditioning system.
Vehicles concerned: all E9X and only E87 6-cylinder engine (N52)

Cause
Instead of liquid refrigerant, a gas mixture forms at the expansion valve, causing a hissing noise.

Repair instruction
1. Evacuate the present amount of refrigerant (500 g) in accordance with repair instructions RA 6450009.
2. Refill the system with amount of refrigerant in accordance with repair instructions RA 6450009.

Important
The new fill quantity is 590 g!

Note
Cover the instruction plates used to date with new instruction plates that make reference to 590 g.

Series solution
For vehicles as of date of manufacture 01.09.2005, the fill quantity of the air conditioning system has already been changed.
