Engine Ventilation Heating

Engine Ventilation Heating

When the engine is cold, the engine ventilation heating prevents ice formation from freezing condensation within the engine ventilation.
Frozen engine ventilation can lead to a pressure increase in the crankcase, which can lead to engine oil burning or being pressed past seals from the engine. The oil loss can lead to total destruction of the engine.

Associated components
- DME
- Engine ventilation heating
- Engine wiring harness

Function
The engine ventilation heating is supplied with terminal 15 from the DME. With terminal 15 on, the engine ventilation heating is immediately active.
The DME is unable to detect a malfunction in the engine ventilation heating, as the output has no diagnostic capability.
With rising temperature, the engine ventilation heating consumes less power; it works according to the PTC principle.
The engine ventilation heating is only fitted with the optional equipment "Cold-climate version", but it can also be retrofitted in individual cases.
