Removing and Installing Left Cylinder Head




11 12 105 - Removing and installing left cylinder head (S65)





Special tools required:
- 11 2 250






Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove exhaust system Service and Repair.
- Remove left exhaust manifold.
- Remove left cylinder head cover Service and Repair
- Remove left inlet camshaft Removing and Installing/Replacing Left Inlet Camshaft.
- Remove left exhaust camshaft Removing and Installing/Replacing Left Exhaust Camshaft.
- Partially unfasten engine wiring harness 12 51 001 Replacing Wiring Harness Section for Engine and lay to one side.
- Remove throttle valves Removal and Replacement from cylinders 5 to 8.
- Remove thermostat housing Service and Repair.
- Remove rear water pipe from cylinder head.





Release screws (1).
Remove water fitting (2).

Installation:
Replace seal.





Release screws (1).

Important!
Screws (1) can fall into the chain drive. Risk of damage to the timing chain.





Remove screw (1) with a magnet from gearcase.





Release cylinder head bolt (1) with special tool 11 2 250.





Release cylinder head bolts from outside to inside in sequence (10 to 1).






Note:
Replace cylinder head gasket Service and Repair.
Check cylinder head Testing and Inspection for water leaks.

Installation:
Fit new cylinder head screws.





Tighten down cylinder head bolts from inside to outside in sequence (1 to 10).
Tightening torque: 11 12 1AZ. Mechanical Specifications





Insert bolts (1).





Assemble engine.
