Emission Control Systems: Description and Operation
Fuel Injection Rate Monitoring
The ratio of the total fuel injection rate of all cylinders to the amount of air is monitored and corrected using this function.
Function
The exhaust-gas recirculation is intended to achieve a certain Lambda value in the exhaust gas to minimize pollutant emissions. The Lambda value is monitored via the Lambda oxygen sensor. If the measured Lambda value deviates from the target oxygen sensor value, the function attempts to correct the oxygen sensor value via the exhaust-gas recirculation rate.
Fault handling
If the necessary correction exceeds or falls short of certain limit values, a fault is set.
