Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

13 32 051 Replacing Fuel Filter (M57T2, N52K, N57, N62TU)

Special tools required:







IMPORTANT: Wear safety goggles and protective gloves.







Necessary preliminary work:
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove rear underbody protection.
- Remove rear left underbody panelling







Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping fuel.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.







NOTE: Catch and dispose of escaping fuel with drip tray (1) and if necessary special tool 00 2 030 (universal hydraulic lifting equipment).

Recycling:
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.







Release screws (1).
Vehicles without fuel preheating only:
Release clamps on front and back fuel lines on fuel filter.
Disconnect front and back fuel lines from fuel filter.
Close fuel lines with suitable plugs from set of special tools 32 1 270.
Remove fuel filter.

Only M57T2 and N57 engine:
Release clamps on front fuel line on fuel filter.
Disconnect front fuel line on fuel filter and close with suitable plugs from set of special tools 32 1 270.
Pull out clamp (2).
Disconnect fuel preheating (3) from fuel filter.
Remove fuel filter.

Installation note:
Check clamps. Replace faulty clamps.







Reassemble the vehicle.

Bleed fuel system with BMW diagnosis system.
