SUBJECT
Rattle Noise from the Front Door

MODEL
E70 (X5) produced up to March 4, 2009

E71 (X6) produced up to March 4, 2009

SITUATION
A metallic or rattling noise may be heard from one or both of the front doors when driving over rough roads or when closing the door quickly.

CAUSE
The Bowden cables on the power window regulator are contacting the inner door structure.

CORRECTION
Secure the 2 Bowden cables to each other.

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the vapor barrier from the affected door per Repair Instruction REP 51 48 060.

2. Secure the 2 Bowden cables to each other with wire ties where they cross, as displayed in the attachment B512509 Procedure.pdf.

NOTE:
This cable crossing is behind the inner door structure, but it can be accessed without removing the window regulator or any other components.
