SUBJECT
Parking Brake Warning Illuminated; Fault Code 600D and/or 600B Is Stored

MODEL
E70 (X5) up to 8/08

E71 (X6) up to 8/08

SITUATION
The customer may report that the parking brake warning has illuminated. The Parking Brake Module (EMF) has fault code 600D ECU_EPROM_DATA and/or fault code 600B ECU_EPROM_SOFT stored.

CAUSE
Software error

PROCEDURE
In the event of a customer complaint, check the EMF fault memory. If fault code 600D and/or 600B is stored, clear the fault memory. Check the function of the parking brake by operating the switch in the center console to verify proper engagement and disengagement of the parking brake.

Do not replace any parts. A software service solution is planned for release shortly.
