Clicking Noise during Steering Column Adjustment

INFORMATION
The customer may report a clicking and/or ticking noise, which occurs when the steering column is adjusted in the longitudinal (in and out) direction. The electronically adjustable steering column incorporates a solenoid valve, which is activated during the longitudinal adjustment and corresponding motor operation. The solenoid valve is used to control the motor direction and to protect the motor from thermal overload. Therefore, the noise which occurs during column operation is considered normal and related to system design. In the case of a customer complaint, do not replace any parts; simply explain the system operation to the customer. The noise has no adverse effect on the long-term durability of the steering column mechanism.
