SITUATION





During routine maintenance or other repairs, it may be noted that a yellow fluid appears to be leaking in the area of the power steering gear end cap.





The yellow fluid (1) is an assembly lube used during the manufacturing process of the power steering gear (2). After several heat cycles, a small amount of this lube may collect on the power steering gear. If this type of fluid is detected, the area should be cleaned with a spray-type parts cleaner and a clean, dry lintfree cloth.

Replacement of the steering gear is not necessary.
