SUBJECT
DSC Warning Lamp Illuminated

MODEL
E70 (X5) vehicles produced up to and after January 28, 2007

SITUATION
The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) warning lamp is illuminated and some or all of the following fault codes are stored:

^ 6E58

^ 6E04

^ 5EBA

^ D36F

^ [NEW]55C3

^ [NEW]6EC4

The wipers may also be operating in default mode.

A wiring change was introduced on January 28, 2007; however, problems continue to be reported.

CAUSE

Wiring harness to the DSC acceleration sensor B9801 is tensioned too tightly, causing either a cut wire at the point indicated, or a poor electrical connection at the sensor itself.

The DSC sensor is located in the front passenger footwell.

Vehicles after January 28, 2007: More information is required on the exact cause.

CORRECTION
Normally, it is sufficient to re-insulate the wire using electrical tape.

If a more substantial wire repair is necessary, refer to SI B61 01 07.

Apply protection to any sharp edges to prevent any further harness damage. If necessary, relieve the tension in the harness by cutting back the harness tape at the branch connection.

Vehicles after January 28, 2007: Only with your help can a further solution be developed.

Please create a PuMA case (Info only) and attach digital pictures showing the problem area. Please include B34 03 07 in the subject line.
