SUBJECT
CID Is Blank, No Audio, CHAMP Resets and Is Then Inoperative

MODEL
E60, E61 *(5 Series) vehicles from March 2007 to February 2009
E70 *(X5) vehicles from October 2006 to February 2009
*with option 663 (RADIO BMW PROFESSIONAL CHAMP)

SITUATION
The Central Information Display (CID) is blank and no audio functions are available.

Approximately 30 to 90 seconds after ignition on, the CHAMP resets twice and is then completely inoperative.

Even after ignition off/on or sleep mode, the CHAMP cannot be reactivated.

The CHAMP works properly again after a battery reset, or being disconnected from power and reconnected.

CAUSE
Error in the CHAMP software

CORRECTION
Do not replace parts!

Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.33.0 or later.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
