Front Seat Backrest Panel Gap

MODEL
E70 (X5) equipped with Comfort Seats (SA456) and produced up to June 8, 2009

E71 (X6) equipped with Comfort Seats (SA456) and produced up to June 8, 2009

SITUATION

The Comfort Seat option includes front seats that have a split backrest, which allows the upper portion to articulate independently from the lower portion.

When the upper portion of the backrest is articulated fully forward, a gap may exist between the upper and lower backrest panels.

CAUSE

The upper backrest panel is positioned too high on the backrest.

CORRECTION

Do not replace any parts.

Adjust the retention system of the backrest panel.

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the upper backrest panel from the affected seat per Repair Instruction REP 52 17 205.

2. Adjust the upper mounting clips per the procedure SIB521009 Procedure.pdf shown at the bottom of this bulletin.

3. Reinstall the backrest panel.
