Damage To Tailgate Wiring Harness

Damage to tailgate wiring harness
Damage to the tailgate wiring harness can even be present on new vehicles.
It is therefore necessary to respond to malfunctions in tailgate components (taillamps, aerials, heated rear window, automatic luggage compartment lid actuation, rear lid button, etc.) by inspecting to determine whether the wiring harness is damaged in the area around the cable passage.

The image shows the left side of the tailgate wiring harness. Damage to the wiring harness around the cable passages can occur on both the left and right sides.

Then lower the headliner and check to determine whether the wiring harness is damaged in the area around the cable passage (abrasion).
