SUBJECT
Noises from the Glove Compartment

SITUATION
Unpleasant noises may be heard from the glove compartment when:

1. Opening and closing the lids (functional noises)

2. While driving (rattling or creaking).

CAUSE

1. Resistance in the locking system due to incorrect USB cable routing

2. Contact between the lids and adjacent surfaces.

[NEW] INFORMATION

The problem has been integrated into ISTA diagnostics. Follow the diagnosis test plan, using the latest ISTA version.

In "Information Search", select the "Function Structure" tab. Select Body, Mechanism, Noises, Dashboard and center console noises, then press "Start Search".

Select test plan "B5116_E70MECH1 Dashboard and center console noises".

[NEW] CORRECTION

Refer to ISTA diagnosis for the required repair procedure.

[NEW] WARRANTY INFORMATION

Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle/SAV Limited Warranty as applicable.

Refer to the KSD2 to code the repair performed as prescribed by ISTA diagnosis results.
