E72 Hybrid CAN Errors

E72 ActiveHybrid X6 built from 9/10/2009 through 11/19/2009

SITUATION

The customer may complain about following drivetrain-related malfunctions:

^ Intermittently, the vehicle does not start.

^ Loss of power while driving

^ Certain CC messages are displayed: "Hybrid drive faulty", "Transmission faulty", "Drive faulty", "Not possible to drive on", or "Hybrid system restricted..."

The following faults can also be stored:

^ HIM - CB4B - bus communication fault (HL-CAN)

^ DME - 3183 - 0x3183 HL-CAN bus

^ EGS/TCM - 1C073 - TCM: HL-CAN bus wiring fault

^ HCP - 1C073 - HCP: HL-CAN bus wiring fault

^ APM - 1C073 - Auxiliary Power Module (APM): HL-CAN bus communication fault

CAUSE

Faulty wire crimp in the HCAN cable at the Power Electronics Box (PEB)

CORRECTION

Submit a PuMA case titled "E72 HCAN Faults Stored" to Technical Service for further diagnostic and repair instructions.
