Removing and Installing/Sealing Right Cylinder Head Cover
11 12 006 Removing and installing/sealing right cylinder head cover (S63)Special tools required:
Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove acoustic cover
^ Clamp off battery negative terminal
^ Release battery positive terminal
^ Remove right intercooler
^ Remove intake filter housing
^ Disconnect fuel feed line
^ Detach wiring harness for injectors and lay to one side
^ Remove ignition coils, cylinders 1-4
^ Remove injectors, cylinders 1-4
^ Remove high-pressure pump
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 11 12 9AZ.
Release screw (2).
Tightening torque 17 10 8AZ.
Remove oil filler neck.
Cover fill opening with a cloth.
Release screws (1). Lay expansion tank to one side.
Tightening torque 17 10 7AZ.
Release screws (1) from expansion tank holder.
Tightening torque 17 10 6AZ.
Release screw (1) and remove expansion tank holder.
Tightening torque 17 10 6AZ.
Note:
Right side.
Release nut (1) from vacuum reservoir.
Tightening torque 11 65 6AZ.
Lay vacuum reservoir to one side.
Unclip plug (1) from holder.
Unfasten screws (2).
Tightening torque 11 12 4AZ.
Note:
Left side
Release nut (1) from vacuum reservoir.
Tightening torque 11 65 6AZ.
Lay vacuum reservoir to one side.
Detach plug (2) from holder
Unclip plug (1) from holder.
Unfasten screws (2).
Tightening torque 11 12 4AZ.
Unclip all vacuum hoses and oxygen sensor cables.
Take off holder (3).
Note:
Right side.
Release screws (1) and remove heat shield.
Tightening torque 11 65 3AZ.
Release screws (2) and detach engine vent line.
Tightening torque 11 15 1AZ.
Cover opening.
Unlock vent line at the positions (1) and remove line.
Unfasten screws (2).
Feed out holder (1) in direction of arrow and remove.
Release bolts in sequence (17 to 1).
Remove cylinder head cover.
Clean sealing surface (1) with special tool 11 4 470.
Installation:
Replace seal (2).
Installation:
Renew profile seal of cylinder head cover.
Installation:
It is important to join screw (1) for exact positioning of the camshaft sensors.
Fit cylinder head cover.
Position screw (1).
Release screw (1) by 90°.
Secure cylinder head cover in sequence (1 to 17) in two work steps.
Tightening torque 11 12 3AZ.
Assemble engine.
