Removal and Replacement - Supplementary Procedure

The following article has been updated by technical service bulletin SI B 64 13 10 dated December 2010

SITUATION
The screw brackets on the fan housing can be damaged when the heating/air conditioning fan is installed. This may cause the fan wheel to come into contact with the housing.

This Service Information supplements Repair Instruction REP 64 11 212 (Removing and installing/replacing heater/air conditioner fan).

CAUSE
There is a gap between the mounting brackets during installation.

PROCEDURE
In order to prevent damage when installing a heating/air conditioning fan, follow the supplementary instructions below:

B64 13 10 Attachment Installation of heating/air conditioning fan REPAIR PROCEDURE

Note:
Review the complete repair procedure before starting.
(supplementary to REP 64 11 212)

1. When installing the heating / air conditioning fan it must not be installed so that there is a gap between the fan and the air conditioning unit, as shown in the picture.

2. This gap will cause the bracket to be damaged when the mounting screws are tightened (see 1).

3. When installing the heating / air conditioning fan, particular attention must be taken to ensure that the fan housing is not tilted and is flush against the air conditioning unit; no gap must be present (see picture).
