Rattle from the Luggage Compartment

SITUATION

A rattle or creaking noise can be heard from the luggage compartment near the C-pillar or cargo cover when driving over rough roads. The noise may be more apparent at low ambient temperatures.

CAUSE

The relative motion between the plastic trim adjacent to the C-pillar and the body shell, when the vehicle is subject to torsional loads.

CORRECTION

Apply felt tape to the locating tabs on the quarter glass vent trim.

INFORMATION

The problem has been integrated into ISTA diagnostics. Follow the diagnosis test plan using the latest ISTA version. In Information Search, select the "Function Structure" tab. Select Body, mechanism noises, noises, rear area noises, and then press "Start Search".

Select test plan "B5100_HECKMECH1 noises in the rear area".
