SUBJECT
Backrest Upholstery Dirty due to Contact with Upper Seat Belt

MODEL
E89 (Z4)

SITUATION
The upper side section of the front seat backrest upholstery is dirty (see attachment).

CAUSE
The upper seat belt rubs against the front seat backrest while the vehicle is moving.

PROCEDURE
If the seat backrest is dirty, use the following procedure to clean the seat and the seat belt:

1. For leather seats, clean the seat upholstery with leather care cleaner P/N 83 12 0 411 371.

2. Caution: For the Alcantara trim (pure white), you must use interior cleaner P/N 83 12 0 405 178.

3. Clean the seat belt with a mild soapy solution, as follows:

^ Extend the seat belt fully from the seat belt reel and keep extended, using a clamp or clothespin. Take care not to damage the seat belt.

^ After the seat belt is clean and dried, it can be rolled back up.

Note:
The dirt can be completely removed without leaving any residue by using the recommended cleaning products. It is not necessary to replace the backrest assembly.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Dirt on the seat caused by normal use is not covered under warranty.
