SUBJECT
Bulb Out Warning: "Turn Indicator Defective"

MODEL
E90, E91 (3 Series) with halogen headlights
E89 (Z4)

Vehicles produced from August 31, 2009 to September 20, 2009

SITUATION
When the hazard warning system is activated, intermittently a false "bulb out" warning is displayed. Vehicles with a CID (Central Information Display) will additionally see a check control message displayed: "Turn indicator defective". All the turn signal (hazard) lamps are working without fault.

CAUSE
Software error in the FRM3R footwell module

[NEW] CORRECTION
Perform diagnostics with ISTA and work through any related test modules. Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.37.0 or later.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
