32 31 090 Removing And Installing/Replacing Steering Column







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove steering wheel
- Remove steering column shrouds
- Remove trim panel for pedal mechanism
- Release steering shaft from steering column (in engine compartment)
- Disconnect plug connection on electric steering column lock
- Remove wiring harnesses on steering column







Secure steering column against falling out.
Release screws (1).
Tightening torque 32 31 3AZ.
Remove steering column rearwards.

Installation note:
Check steering column sleeve.







Replacement:
- Modify steering-column switch cluster







After installation:
- Replacement: Lock and unlock electrical steering column lock and delete fault memory in Car Access System (CAS).
- Replacement: Turn steering wheel in both directions to the limit position. The airbag indicator light must not light up in the process.
