SUBJECT
Instrument Cluster Fails to Program
MODEL
F07 (5 Series Gran Turismo)
F10 (5 Series)
Vehicles produced from 8/8/2010 to 8/17/2010
SITUATION
When the vehicle is being programmed with ISTA/P (Integrated Service Technical Application, Programming), the final report indicates that the instrument cluster has failed programming.
The cluster is fully functional after a power cycle is carried out, once the vehicle programming is completed.
CAUSE
Instrument cluster software error on clusters manufactured between 07/28/2010 and 08/08/2010 and that have a factory integration level earlier than F010-10-09-501 (ISTA/P 2.39.0)
PROCEDURE
If a programming failure is observed on the instrument cluster, before reattempting a second programming session, check whether the vehicle identification number is listed in the attachment to this Service Information bulletin.
If the vehicle identification number of the affected vehicle is shown on the list, replace the instrument cluster.
If the vehicle is not on the list, repeat the programming procedure up to two additional times; then replace it.
