SUBJECT
Vehicle Contacts the Curb When Using the Parking Assistant
MODEL
F10 (5 Series)
[NEW] Vehicles produced from 12/31/2009 to 11/25/2010 with Parking Assistant (option 5DP)
SITUATION
In rare cases the vehicle contacts the curb when using the parking assistant. This may occur more frequently in vehicles equipped with 20 inch tires. No related faults are stored
CAUSE
Parking assistant sensor properties and control unit software
[NEW] PROCEDURE
Do not replace parts.
^ Verify that the rear tire contacts the curb while using the Parking Assistant.
^ Program and encode the vehicle using ISTA/P 2.40.0 or higher.
^ Perform a vehicle test and complete all test plans for faults related to the PMA (Parking Maneuver Assistant) module. Test Plan AS6633_PMA_IB for fault Ox481E1E must be completed to update the sensors.
^ Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
