51 32 154 Adjust Left or Right Front Side Window
51 32 154 Adjust Left Or Right Front Side Window
Special tools required:
- 51 0 000
- 51 0 341
- 51 0 342
- 51 3 010
- 51 3 080
- 51 3 240
- 51 3 300
- 51 3 301
- 51 3 303
- 51 3 304
Precondition:
- Vehicle must be standing on its wheels on a level floor
- Front door correctly adjusted to fit
- Verify clear window gap after window lift has been removed
IMPORTANT: When closing the door, the door window glass must not bind along the decorative strip in any area of the window (window may break).
If necessary, incoming check:
Prior to any adjustments, perform the following incoming checks:
NOTE: Incoming check must be carried out with the window cavity cover strip fitted.
- Denormalize power window
- Measure retraction depths with special tool 51 3 080.
- 51 0 341 Insert special tool in rotary striker and close rotary striker
- 51 0 342 Measure pretension with special tool
- Initialise power windows
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Denormalize power window
- Remove outer window cavity cover strip (not for checking pretension)
Ideal adjustment, longitudinal direction:
Open door window approximately 5 cm.
Insert special tool 51 0 000 into mirror triangle from above.
Raise the door window.
51 0 000 Door window glass must rest without play on special tool.
Retraction depth of window glass 17 mm ± 1 mm in the area of the mirror triangle.
Ideal adjustment, retraction depth:
- Open side window
- Attach special tool 51 3 080 to door window glass
- Close front door and door window
- Measure retraction depth
NOTE: In order to adjust the retraction depth, 2 special tool 51 3 080 are required.
Measure retraction depth (C) in areas (A and B).
Retraction depth (C):
A = 3.2 ± 0.7 mm
Gap between measuring point and triangular mirror section = 60 mm
B = 3.2 ± 0,7 mm*
Gap between measuring point and window edge = 60 mm
NOTE: Reference point for retraction depth is edge of roof frame strip (1).
IMPORTANT: Front door must open and close without the side window touching the roof trim strip.
Adjusting longitudinal direction/retraction depth:
Slacken hook screws (1) 51 3 240 with special tool until door window glass can just be moved.
NOTE: Insert appropriate foil between window glass and special tool. (risk of damage)
Attach special tool 51 3 010 to door window glass.
Use special tool 51 0 000 to adjust door window glass in longitudinal direction.
Adjust retraction depth of door window (1) 51 3 080 in area of A-pillar and B-pillar.
NOTE: When adjusting retraction depth, ensure door window glass is supported by special tool 51 0 000 and 51 3 080.
Installation:
The specified torque moment 51 33 1AZ (MDE) is reduced when using special tool 51 3 240. Depending on the torque wrench used, this must be calculated in accordance with the adjacent overview:
MDE = Torque to be set
MDV = Prescribed torque (without special tool)
lj = Standard adjustment length with adjusting tool
11 = Effective length of torque wrench
12 = Inside dimension of adjusting tool
lw = Inside dimension of insertion tool (lw = 246 mm+l2)
Installation:
If fastening is performed from the inside of the door (removed door trim panel), the tightening torque to be set 51 33 1AZ (without special tool) must be observed.
Tighten hook screw (1) 51 3 240with special tool.
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
Ideal setting, preload:
NOTE: Pretension can be checked with or without window cavity cover strip. Pretension is 1.0 mm less with window cavity cover strip. 51 0 341 Magnet in special tool creates the correct door window glass pre-tension on the seal system for measurement. No force must be exerted on the door or door window glass during measurement.
Insert special tool 51 0 341 in rotary striker of door lock and close rotary striker manually.
Carefully close door.
NOTE: Special tool 51 0 342 must contact body flange
Slide special tool 51 0 342 at distance (B) of door window glass lateral edge into seal (1). Measure dimension (A) to door window glass (2).
Dimension (A) with window cavity cover strip:
A = 51 ± 1 mm
Dimension (A) without window cavity cover strip:
A = 52 ± 1 mm
B = 30 mm
Adjust preload:
Slacken nut (3) 13 with reversible ratchet (2) of special tool 51 3 300 (consisting of 51 3 301, 51 3 303 and 51 3 304).
Turn knob (1) on special tool 51 3 300 to turn stud (4) and thereby alter the pre-tension.
Tighten nut (3).
Tightening torque 51 33 1AZ.
Check adjustment, repeat procedure if necessary.
NOTE:
- After completing adjustment work, it is essential to initialise the power window unit.
- Checking run-in of door window glass:
- Door window glass must strike the inside of the seal.
- If necessary, adjust gap dimension of B-pillar cover.
