Situation:
The wheels and tires play an extremely important role with respect to the safety and ride comfort of a vehicle. The current state of the art in automotive engineering means that these components are subjected to very great loads.

Technical development in the tire sector over the past years has achieved great progress. As a consequence, the demands made on the scope and quality of service in the workshop have also risen.

Since the last training document to be published on the subject of wheels/tires was a Service Information Programme (SIP) at the beginning of the 1980s, we have now revised the training documentation in line with the present requirements.

Procedure:
There are now two new publications available on the subject of wheels and tires:

BMW Service Information
Serves as a reference document and goes into the subject matter dealt with in the above-mentioned training programme in greater detail.

The two training documents have different emphases. They complement one another and should therefore be used jointly.
