Fault text
Air-mass system: measured value, air mass, too high

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the actual load (mass
airflow) relative to throttle-valve aperture.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when the mass airflow rate measured
by the HFM exceeds the calculated mass airflow rate
through the throttle valve to Bank 1 by 60 %.
Potential problem source(s):
- Mass airflow sensor defective
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 10 V
Temperature condition:
Coolant temperature > -10 °C
- -10 °C < intake-air temperature < 90 °C
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- Reduced dynamic response (load/rpm)
- 80 mbar < intake-manifold pressure < 800 mbar

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory if
it remains present for longer than 6.2 sec.

Action in service
- Check wiring harness between DME and HFM
- Check intake system and crankcase for leakage
- Perform learning routine for throttle-valve travel stops

Fault effect and breakdown warning
Breakdown notice:
- none
Possible apparent symptoms:
- Reduced power

Driver information
Warning light:
- ECE emissions warning lamp: on
- US emissions warning lamp: on
- ECE electronic engine power reduction: off
- US electronic engine power reduction: off
