Coolant-temperature sensor, plausibility: signal change too
fast

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the gradients of the
voltage shifts from the coolant temperature sensor.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when variations of 2.25 °C/100 ms
occur.
Potential problem source(s):
- Creeping contact resistance or intermittent open contact in
sensor/power wires
- Sensor defective
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 9.15 V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- none

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory if
it remains present for longer than 0.6 sec.

Action in service
- Check wiring harness between DME and sensor
- Replace sensor

Possible apparent symptoms:
- Fan rotates at high speed
