Fault text
Engine-oil pressure switch: open circuit or switch sticking

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors switching of the oil
pressure switch when the engine is shut down.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when the oil-pressure switch fails to
ground when the engine is switched off.
Potential problem source(s):
- Oil pressure switch defective
Terminal condition: none
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 10 V
Temperature condition:
- 60 °C < engine oil temperature or < 150 °C
Time condition:
- 3 sec. after engine off
Other conditions:
- none

Condition for fault memory entry
The fault is logged in the fault memory if it remains
continuously present for longer than 5 sec.

Action in service
- Check wiring harness between DME and oil-pressure
switch
- Replace oil-pressure switch
