Fault text
Clutch switch, electric: short circuit to positive or open
circuit

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the digital signal from the
clutch switch.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when, following a recognized
operating status, the vehicle stops and no signal from the
clutch switch is detected. The following conditions must be
recognized for the operating status: longer than 3 sec., v >
30 km/h, n > 1510 rpm, load must be present, for instance,
by accelerating from standing start in second gear
Potential problem source(s):
- Driving with clutch slipping
- Defective wiring harness
- Clutch switch defective
Terminal condition: none
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 10 V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- None

Condition for fault memory entry
The fault is logged in the control module's fault memory
after it is detected 3 times.

Action in service
- Check wiring harness between DME and clutch switch
- Replace clutch switch

Breakdown notice:
- none
Possible apparent symptoms:
- The cruise control can fail.

- US emissions warning lamp: off
- ECE electronic engine power reduction: off
- US electronic engine power reduction: off
- CC message: on

Service instruction
- Watch debounce, the fault must be recognized three times
during a driving cycle.
