Fault text
Injectors, group 4, or DME, internal fault: initialization fault
Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the electrical connection
between the DME and the injector when Terminal 15 is on.
Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
This fault is recognized by complex self-diagnosis routines.
Potential problem source(s):
- Defect in wiring harness between DME and injector 2
and/or 8
- Injector 2 and/or 8 defective
- Defective DME
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 6 V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- none
Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory
immediately.
Action in service
- Check injectors 2 and 8: Measure the resistance between
the pins for the injectors, (specified: 200 kOhm +/-10
kOhm), if the specified value is not obtained, replace the
injector
- Replace DME
Fault effect and breakdown warning
Breakdown notice:
- The engine reverts to its limp-home program, continued
vehicle operation is possible but drivability is restricted,
because power is reduced the driver should refrain from
passing maneuvers.
Possible apparent symptoms:
- Power loss and poor engine operation; breakdown vehicle
if multiple driver circuits are defective
