Electric fan, self-diagnosis, stage 4: serious fan fault

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the switching processes in
the electric fan's electronic circuitry.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when the switching processes are
implausible.
Potential problem source(s):
- Collateral fault caused by seized fan
- Fault in electronic fan control
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 10 V
Temperature condition:
- Coolant temperature > -20 °C
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- none

Condition for fault memory entry
The fault is logged when it is detected 2 times within 30
seconds.

Action in service
- If no collateral fault is present then replace the electric fan

Fault effect and breakdown warning
Breakdown notice:
- The electric fan has failed, no vehicle operation should be
attempted.
Possible apparent symptoms:
- Engine can overheat, breakdown in extreme cases
