Fault text
VANOS solenoid valve, inlet 2, activation: short circuit to
ground

Fault description
The diagnostic function monitors the electrical connection
between the DME and the VANOS solenoid valve 2 on the
intake side.

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
The fault is recognized when a short circuit to ground is
present.
Potential problem source(s):
- The wire from the DME to VANOS solenoid valve 2 on
the intake side has a short to ground.
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
- Electrical system voltage > 10 V
Temperature condition:
- None
Time condition:
- None
Other conditions:
- none

Condition for fault memory entry
This fault is logged in the control module's fault memory if
it remains present for longer than 0.5 sec.

Action in service
- Check wire between DME and VANOS solenoid valve 2
on intake side

Fault effect and breakdown warning
Breakdown notice:
- If the engine does run, the vehicle can be driven.
Possible apparent symptoms:
- Engine difficult or impossible to start. There may also be a
palpable loss of power.
